Project Architect

Adjaye Associates seeks to hire a Project Architect to join our global team. The successful candidate will share in our devotion to social impact and should have experience managing consultants, contractors, and clients while mentoring a team to complete extremely high-quality work in a self-motivated but collaborative manner. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Execute vision of the firm across all aspects of design/team members
  • Management and mentoring of junior team members
  • Responsible for developing comprehensive drawing sets from concept through construction documents that are compliant with all regulations (building code, ADA, etc.)
  • Developing presentations, renderings, and models
  • Resolve design issues with creative and practical solutions by developing multiple design options that meet the project budget and design approach 
  • Coordinate with consultants, fabricators, vendors and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives 
  • Lead the construction administration phase for a project 

Essential Skills

  • 16+ years of experience in all phases of the design process: conceptual, detail and design development, construction documents, and construction administration with site supervision 
  • Skilled in putting together an extremely well-documented and coordinated drawing set
  • Solid understanding of materials, construction techniques, and zoning/building codes 
  • Perform frequent quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reviews of all project content produced to ensure alignment of office QA/QC 
  • Fluent in relevant client material production and dialogue 
  • 3+ years proficiency in REVIT, AutoCAD, and Rhino, with V-Ray, Grasshopper, and 3ds Max a plus 
  • Excellent Adobe Suite skills 
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-moving environment 
  • Comfortable balancing project schedules, staffing, and budget constraints 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple or fast-paced projects 
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. 
  • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English (spoken and written) 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture 
  • Licensed in New York State

Researcher

Adjaye Associates seeks to hire a talented researcher with a background in architecture, art, or design to contribute to various projects, competitions, publications, and exhibitions. The successful candidate will conduct multidisciplinary research, develop project narratives, case studies, and approach/methodology text; and will participate in site visits and community engagement sessions with relevant clients. They will share in our devotion for social impact and will be committed to developing high-quality work in a self-motivated but collaborative manner, with a strong desire to continually learn.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:   

  • Conduct multidisciplinary research for exhibitions, publications, and new business submissions.
  • Develop compelling project narratives, case studies, and approach/methodology texts.
  • Participate in site visits and community engagement sessions with clients.
  • Create timelines, source archival imagery, and conduct detailed site analyses.
  • Secure information from primary and secondary sources to inform project development.
  • Collaborate effectively with teams across multiple projects and locations.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of two years of research experience.
  • MA or BA degree preferred in Research, Architecture, Design, or relevant creative fields or the equivalent in work experience.
  • Proficient ability to conduct research with excellent writing skills.
  • Strong spatial awareness and understanding of the architectural field and relevant industry-related topics, such as sustainability, accessibility, and co-production.
  • Highly organized, accurate, and detail-oriented with a conscientious work ethic.
  • Fluent English language communication skills, both spoken and written (second or third language is advantageous but not mandatory).
  • Fluency in Adobe Acrobat/InDesign preferred.
  • Experience with Rhino, AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:   

  • The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience, qualifications, and education and usually ranges between $62,000 and $72,000 excluding benefits.
