Researcher

Adjaye Associates are seeking a talented researcher to contribute to various projects, competitions, publications, and exhibitions. The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious and creative as well as rigorous and well-organized, with the ability to perform in a busy environment and keep to deadlines, working both alone and collaboratively as part of a team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conducting research for ongoing architectural projects as well as exhibitions, publications, and new business submissions.
  • Developing visual and written research documents.
  • Creating written materials such as project narratives, case studies, new business proposals, and approach/methodology texts.
  • Editing and proofreading written pieces.
  • Coordinating with marketing and design teams to illustrate written pieces.
  • Presenting research findings for internal and external audiences when necessary.

  • Capacity to work collaboratively in a team environment in which members are mutually accountable.
  • Punctuality, honesty, and integrity in work.
  • Proven to be nimble and adaptable to scenarios outside normal work duties.
  • Ability to make plans, schedule tasks, and set appropriately timed goals.
  • Can develop and deliver multi-mode communications which convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
  • Desire to learn, enthusiasm, and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to seek out new assignments and assume additional duties when necessary.

Global Sustainability Lead

Adjaye Associates are seeking a Sustainability Lead to inform, drive and lead our sustainability ambitions and provide leadership to our team of designers across our three global offices in Accra, London and New York. As this is a global position, applications are welcome from those who are local to either our Accra, London or New York office. The ideal candidate will have a background in sustainability and architecture for an integrated approach to design and research.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead our strategic sustainability objectives.
  • Advise and guide on how we can operate more sustainably as a practice, and in our firm culture.
  • Develop and implement policies and guidance to support sustainable design.
  • Create and maintain sustainability resources for our teams to use.
  • Act as a source of knowledge for the studios, providing/sourcing expert advice around sustainability in design.
  • Stay up to date with current legislation and actively research changing legislation that impacts sustainable design practices.
  • Establish targets, monitor and reduce Adjaye Associates environmental impact.
  • Environmental assessments of projects, producing cohesive assessments and reports to share with key stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement sustainability tools for our project teams to use.
  • Lead regular project reviews and assessments.
  • Support project teams to produce sustainable design strategies and systems input to PR, marketing and bid activities in regards to sustainability.
  • Engage and participate in sustainability focused activities within the wider construction industry.
  • Lead the ISO:14001 Sustainability Group, ensuring continued success at certification.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Sustainability, Architecture or related field.
  • Sustainability qualifications such as LEED, BREEAM etc. preferred but not essential.
  • Minimum 5 years working at a senior level in the field of Sustainability and Architecture (or related field).
  • Global understanding of legislation in relation to sustainability and the environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of sustainable design strategies including technologies and materials.
  • Self-motivated with intellectual curiosity and a passion for design, the environment and sustainable practices.
  • Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects at any given time.
  • Experience with project performance analysis.
  • Experience leading/contributing to initiatives such as ISO:14001, BCorp, Net Zero.
  • Experience working with Senior Leadership teams to deliver company objectives.
  • Ability to lead, train and mentor others successfully.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidate should be able to provide evidence of how they have achieved and monitored sustainability objectives in previous roles.
