Adjaye Summer Apprentice
The Adjaye Associates New York Summer Apprenticeship aims to foster a holistic work environment that is committed to the ongoing mentorship, education and professional development.
Each apprentice will receive temporary employment status and will be paid hourly at a competitive rate, with the expectation of a 40-hour work week. Apprentices will be paired with a reliable mentor who will help them acclimate to a professional environment while offering a familiar face to encourage camaraderie.
Apprentices are an integral part of our office culture—they will work with like-minded individuals while being integrated into studio’s everyday community. Some skill sets apprentices can expect to develop include rendering, material research, modeling, advocacy, package preparation, and presentations.
We are also eager to learn from the apprentices and the skills and insights they bring that can further improve our design process.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist project team on preparing presentation drawings
- Internal professional development presentation (topics to be led by apprentices)
- Design development through software use / model making / team collaboration /drawing / sketching
- Post-occupancy evaluations of built Adjaye Associates project(s)
- Office culture and internal advocacy development
Skills & Qualifications:
- Students from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences are encouraged to apply
- Apprentices to be in architecture-related program
- Software familiarity is ideal: Rhino, AutoCAD, VRAY, Enscape, Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat PRO, etc.)
- Physical model-making skills ideal
- Ability to work in-person and virtually, as needed
